Gestalt Mind

Crafters R Us

Last night was amusing.  I logged on with the express purpose of taking a break from hunting for the night.  I now have 1 crafter for every tradeskill sitting at various levels, so I figured I would work some or all of them a bit.

When I got online, it seemed that most of my guild had the same thoughts.  The guild messages for people completing tradeskill writs were scrolling through chat like it was a slot machine.  People were asking if anyone had various nodes of various level and supplies were changing hands like it was a flea market.  Those who weren’t actively crafting were out harvesting.

I didn’t get as much accomplished as I set out to do, but it was still a nice and relaxing change of pace.  I gained 3 levels on my sage, 1 on my armorsmith, 1 on my jeweler and 2 on my woodworker.  I was about to change over to my tailor, but decided I was a little tired of crafting at that point and called it a night.

Tonight will probably be more of the same.  I might mix in a harvest run to pick up some of the supplies I’m running low on, but for the most part, I have plenty of most of what I need for a while.

My goal in having so many tradeskillers has always been to be somewhat self-sufficient.  I’m not sure why, but in whatever game I have ever played, I have preferred that method.  The silly part is that my crafting always lags behind.  I made a jeweler so that I could keep my dirge stocked with adepts, but my adventure level quickly outpaced my crafting level.

Now that I’m working on 2 new toons, I thought I would be able to keep pace.  It worked for a while, but now my tradeskills are lagging behind again.  I end up, in most case, giving my people food, items, and gear below their level.  My current tradeskill push is an attempt to get a few of my tradeskillers caught up to my 2-box crew so at least they are able to stay current, but it will be a challenge.

The upside of all of that, however, is that I obviously have many guildies who also enjoy crafting… something that was in evidence last night.  When I am unable to supply myself with what I need, I have plenty of friends who will pick up the slack for me.  I just always do my best to not impose on other people’s play time.

I guess we’ll see what is on the agenda when I get home tonight though.  I definately have a tugging to get out and adventure tonight instead of craft, so that might win out in the end.

That is, of course, one of the aspects that I enjoy about playing an MMO.  There are always things to do and plenty of choices for a night’s entertainment.
