Gestalt Mind

A quick interlude… and a quicker death

Stargrace was even nice enough to warn me, dammit.  But still, my dumb butt spawned the shark of doom last night.

I had intended to look up the quest that spawns him so I would know exactly what it was so I could be sure that I never took it.  But, I hadn’t gotten around to that yet.

So, I head to the Forbidden Sepulcher last night… because I enjoy running through there.  I clear through it for my second time and ended up with some plate helm loot that I couldn’t use, but it was still fun.

I head back out and think I’ll probably call it an early night.  Granted, I had only been on for a few minutes, but I was still worn out from the trip the day before and bed was calling.

I zoned out and evac’d back to the base camp.  I actually picked up the quest for The Forbidden Sepulcher over the weekend AFTER I had already completed it, so I still needed to do my turn in.  I hail the barbarian turn in guy to get my quest exp and notice a shiney feather off in the distance.

I jump in the drink to swim over with my faithful 2-box wizard on auto-follow and hail the dude on the ice island.  Three things were unknown to me at this point.  The first was that this was the guy who gives the quest to kill Dreadwake.  The second was that Dreadwake would spawn IMMEDIATELY upon the quest reaching the “accept” or “decline” phase whether you actually took the quest or not.

The third, and most tragic, thing that was unknown to me was that I hadn’t moved far enough up the island with my brigand for Fuzzlewump to autofollow out of the water.  He made a quick gnomish snack for my least favorite shark in the game.  And, of course, all my ill-conceived plan to jump in and rescue him did was ensure that my brigand would die as well.

Stupid shark.
