Gestalt Mind

There it is… right where I left it.

I’ve complained (mostly to myself) a lot lately about not having enough free time in my day to get everything done that I want to.  I am finally starting to find solutions to that particular problem.  It is nice feeling that I am finally getting more accomplished each day.  Now if I can only free up just a little more, things will be golden.

I continued on with my new exercise program last night.  It has now been a whopping 3 straight days!  :)   Doesn’t sound like much, but anyone who has ever tried to go from a relatively inactive lifestyle to a relatively active lifestyle can attest that it isn’t easy to do.  I know I have it in me though because this is not the first time in my life that I have made this change.  I believe I am actually aided by that fact though.  This is not a new experience for me and so I know what to expect.

It takes the body roughly 2 weeks to develop anything into a habit.  For 2 weeks, it is a struggle to do something new.  After 2 weeks, the habit is formed and it becomes just a part of your day.

After my workout and after my dinner, I managed to log on for a bit of game time.  It was fun, but there really isn’t much to tell.  We ran Halls of the Forsaken, got our shards, got our chest drops, and called it a night.  Nothing spectacular dropped and nothing unexpected happened.

I noticed while surfing around last night that there seem to be a lot of game bloggers calling it quits lately.  That is always sad to see, but I can’t say that I don’t understand it.  I have had a real problem with blogging about EQ2 lately.  It isn’t that I don’t still enjoy the game (mostly) when I log on and it isn’t that I’m not doing stuff.

It just seems that when I log on, I’m doing the same things over and over again… repeating the same missions or running the same instances.  There are only so many times to tell the same story.

I’m not putting in enough time any longer to do any research on upcoming events or features and there are plenty of others who do that anyway.

Oh well.  I just found it interesting to see how many bloggers were quitting lately.  Maybe we’re all turning into aging gamers and are starting to feel the need to pass the torch.

I don’t see me going anywhere any time soon, but I can imagine this site becoming less and less about gaming and more about just total randomness.  And as my time in game continues to decrease, there is less to relate in any event.

Sanity? Not so much.

I love being busy.  It sure does make the time go by quickly.  At the same time, there comes a point where busy evolves into chaos which, in turn, is just mentally and physically exhausting.

That is where I am right now.  I woke up this morning completely unsure of what day it was and I was so tired that the idea of flipping the lid on my cell phone to see what day it reported back was simply beyond my ability.

I jumped into the shower unsure if it was even a work day or not but knowing that it was better to show up to work on a Saturday than to NOT show up on a work day.

I got to work and the confusion mounted.  I arrived around 7:30 (like normal) and the building was empty (like normal).  I’m usually the first person here so that wasn’t too out of the ordinary.  I walked down the corridor yawning the whole way.  I rounded the corner into our department, flipped on the lights, and checked the clock… which said that it was 6:15.

Of course, it was just a dead battery, but it sure threw my already foggy mind into a tailspin deathroll.

The day has been busy, but not nearly like the last few weeks.  I actually had time to catch my breath and read a few blogs here and there this morning… something I haven’t had time to do for a while.  I have even found the time to post more than a sentence or two (obviously).

Things won’t let up for a while yet.  I’ll still be traveling off and on for the next 7 weeks.  We’re still dealing with the after-math of the server crashes from last week.  Next week, one of the big muckities from corporate is coming to town to find out exactly why things went to the funky latrine like they did.  The way those guys deal with us, the possibilities are completely open as to what next week will mean.  We could be praised for being able to make do with all the craptastic equipment we have been left with or we could all be sent on our way without so much as a groin shot for severance.

I’m actually going to have the time to take a lunch break today.  That is something I haven’t had time to do in nearly a month now.  It will be odd to actually have the time to leave this place for an hour.

Rather than gaming in the evenings (at least as much), I’ve been exercising again.  Things are going slow and painful, but that’s what happens when you allow yourself to become dormant and atrophied.

And through it all, I realized today that February is nearly over.  How did that happen?

Too busy to post

Things have been crazy for a while now.  Things at work just went wonky last week and they haven’t fully recovered yet.  It was all just a series of minor incidents that combined to make a major disaster.

Things are starting to cool off after a marathon work session this weekend that already has me on OT for the week.  I’m traveling tomorrow which is good.  It will be nice to be out of the office.  Beyond that, I just haven’t had a lot to say.  I’m sad to say that I am starting to burn out on writing about gaming… partly due to the fact that gaming is just feeling stale for me.  It has been this way for several months now.  I had hoped that my recent break would revitalize things, but it hasn’t really done so.  Lately logging on just feels like an obligation more than something to enjoy.

Never a good thing.
