Still Here
Sorry for the lack of posts this week. I just haven’t much felt like it. I gave myself a concussion Monday morning at the gym. While this is no where near my first-ever concussion, they are still somewhat distracting. Between the dizziness, nausea, headache, and ringing ears, I just haven’t felt much like organizing my thoughts and, well, thinking.
That hasn’t kept me from playing though.
I stayed home from work on Tuesday and Wednesday because I was honestly too dizzy to drive. I spent most of those days playing my ranger. The more I play that character, the more I love playing him. Too bad he won’t ever be anything other than an alt. He is definately more fun (for me) than the dirge.
I have mostly finished up the Kylong quests. I think I have just a few more, but I put them on hold until I get a couple more levels. I am now well into the Fens quests. I already have enough Bathezid faction for the tradeskill epic, so I just need to knock out 9 more levels so I can work on that. I’ll probably bust those out this weekend.
Not that I’m in a position to finish it yet. Rao has finished the tradeskill epic and I have 2 others who are to the final steps, but I haven’t been able to find a weaponsmith for that combine. I got 1 reply in channel and this guy wanted 150 plat for doing 2 combines for me. Pfft. I’ll grind my own weaponsmith before I pay something that stupid. In fact, I know that I’ll be grinding a weaponsmith before long anyway… that and an alchemist to complete my tradeskill set.
I finally started writing some player books over the last few days too. It is funny to me that it has taken me this long to start doing it. This was a feature that I was very much looking forward to and, as soon as it went live, I did the quest to get the recipe. In the time since, I have crafted close to 100 books and stuck them in my shared bank… and they have just sat there. Blank.
I finished the first one last night. I need to go through and correct a few typos, but once that is done, one copy will go in Aurt’s house (my ranger) and another into the guild library. I am about halfway done with the second.
The first series of books I’m writing are attempts to tie together and collect various bits of lore from EQ and EQ2 and put them into context as the world of Norrath stands in EQ2. The first book is a history of the Iksar starting with their years of slavery at the hands of the Shissar, going through the years of struggle after the Green Mist, their organization into an empire under Venril Sathir, the destruction of the empire at the hands of Trakanon, the final battle that created the field of bone, and the splintering of the Iksar back into individual tribes.
The second book I’m working on is about Karana and Askr’s ties to him from the PoP era of EQ.
The plan is to do a book dedicated to each of the races, each of the gods, and one on the Ring of Scale and possibly one on the Claws of Veeshan. Once those are completed, I’ll decide what to do next.
If nothing else, it provides me with one more outlet of something to do when I feel like logging on but can’t really decide what I want to do. I never actually have a shortage of things to do, but it all comes down to what I’m in the mood to do. I also never have a shortage of invites to do things, but those invites are always contingent upon my willingness to log on Rao… something I am rarely willing to do any longer.
I logged Rao on for about an hour yesterday to help a friend finish his dark mail gauntlets HQ. In the short time he was on, I received at least a dozen invites ranging from groups to x2 instances, to VP raids, to guild invites, to plat bribes if I would transfer servers and join X guild.
I guess there is still a high demand for dirges out there.
